How does it work?
With Etisalat SMS Messenger you can stay in touch with your instant messaging contacts and your Etisalat SMS contacts through your cell phone just by sending SMS messages, without the need to download an application.
Through Etisalat SMS Messenger you can see your contact list in your cell phone anytime, anywhere. Chatting with your friends is easy!
If you have an instant messaging account you only have to register and you'll be able to chat with your friends through SMS with the same account you use on your PC.

- How do I register my account?
If you already have an Etisalat Messenger account, you can associate your account to your cell phone by sending the following to 4444:
- Reg username password
- For example: Reg marie 123
If you don't have an Etisalat Messenger account, you can associate your public network account to your cell phone by sending the following to 4444:
- R network username password
- For example: Reg MSN user@hotmail.com 123456
The network may be MSN, YAHOO, AOL, ICQ or GTALK. The account you enter for the specified network must exist. This command does not create a public network account. However, the system automatically generates an Etisalat Messenger account for you, which you can use to access the PC, web and SMS versions. You'll receive the info via SMS.
In both cases, after registration you'll be automatically connected with your account. You'll only have to ask for your contact list (by sending L or List to 4444) and start chatting. Registration is only done once.
- How do I connect to Etisalat SMS Messenger from my cell phone?
- Once you've registered, the next time you use Etisalat SMS Messenger you only have to connect. For this, send the following to 4444: C
- You'll receive an SMS message telling you with which accounts you are connected and how to proceed.
- How do I know who's online?
- To receive a list of your online contacts, send the following to 4444: L or List
- You'll receive an SMS message displaying the list of your online contacts for each of the instant messaging networks you have registered. Since an SMS message only can display a limited number of characters, you might need to send the command M to see your remaining online contacts.
For example:

The network to which a contact belongs to is displayed after his/her name in the list:
[M] – MSN
[Y] - Yahoo
[G] – Google Talk
[A/I] - AOL/ICQ
[S] – Etisalat SMS network
In the example showed above, No. 1 is associated to Luke who is online using MSN, No. 2 is associated to Amy who is busy using Yahoo.
- How can I chat with my online contacts?
To start chatting, you should have received the contact list (by sending the command L or List). In the SMS message that displays your online contacts you'll see that each contact has a number associated. To start chatting with a contact you have to send the contact's number followed by your message.
- For example: 1 Hi, how're you doing?
- When you receive a message from one of your contacts, just reply to the SMS you receive, you don’t have to send any command or contact’s number.
- Which are the commands I need to know in order to use Etisalat SMS Messenger?
- C : connects all of the accounts you registered.
- List or L : displays your online contacts.
- D : closes your session.
In order to use Etisalat SMS Messenger and communicate with your friends, you have to know the following commands:
- How do I disconnect from Etisalat SMS Messenger?
- To disconnect, send the following to 4444: D.
Etisalat SMS Messenger has a mechanism that disconnects the user if he doesn't send a message during 2 hours.
